Intense Presidential Campaign in Ecuador

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, and his main rival, the correista Luisa González, are in the final stretch of the electoral campaign for the general elections that will define the political landscape of the Andean country for the next four years. Noboa, who seeks to govern until 2029, has traveled to various regions of the country in search of support, while González has moved through several provinces to close her campaign.

During his tours, Noboa has emphasized economic proposals such as reducing VAT to 12%, low-interest rates, and support for small producers. On her part, González has highlighted the importance of properly investing the country's oil wealth to overcome underdevelopment.

If no candidate obtains more than half of the valid votes in the elections next Sunday, a second round will be held on April 13. More than 13.7 million Ecuadorians are called to the polls to elect a president, 151 assembly members, and representatives of the Andean Parliament, as well as the Executive.

The electoral campaign has had a strong impact on social media, where candidates have promoted their proposals. Leonidas Iza, an indigenous candidate, has emphasized the importance of prioritizing the well-being of Ecuadorian families and has proposed combating corruption with measures similar to the Singapore model, such as charging tax evaders, starting with those who owe large sums to the State.
