In Cuenca, Ecuador, the XV Ibero-American Business Meeting began with the participation of around one thousand entrepreneurs aimed at promoting employability and leading changes in the region for a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future. This forum precedes the XXIX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government and brings together leaders of business organizations that make up the Ibero-American Business Council, which comprises 33 million companies from 22 countries.
The event started with the presentation of the report 'Objective Employability: an analysis from an Ibero-American perspective,' a new line of work that seeks to promote youth employability through public-private collaboration and the adaptation of education to the needs of the labor market. This initiative also promotes youth entrepreneurship and inclusion in the labor field.
The XV Business Meeting focuses on innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, gender equality, infrastructure, and connectivity. The Ibero-American Secretary-General, Andrés Allamand, highlighted the importance of entrepreneurs for the growth and development of Ibero-America and Latin America, emphasizing the need to offer opportunities to youth from the business world.
The president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi, stressed that the private sector is essential for strengthening states and democracies, emphasizing education as key for the integration of young people into the labor market. The generation of opportunities for youth was highlighted as a duty and responsibility by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabriela Sommerfeld.
The meeting also addressed issues such as the defense of freedom of expression and enterprise, economic growth, support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, diversity, anticipation of climate policies, digitization, the fight against informality, and corruption. The present entrepreneurs expressed their commitment to the development and strengthening of the region, promoting collaboration and unity as a basis for facing challenges and creating opportunities for all.
