Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa has shared photos of former Vice President Jorge Glas after his transfer to a new maximum-security prison, dubbed the 'Prison of the Encounter'. Glas, who is serving corruption sentences, was moved from 'La Roca', the country's highest-security prison, despite precautionary measures issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The transfer came just a day after a massacre of 31 inmates at a prison in Machala. According to the Interior Minister, these transfers were aimed at preventing such clashes. The new prison, built with a $52 million budget, is intended to be the emblem of Noboa's security policy against crime leaders, similar to the model implemented in El Salvador.
'Welcome to your new home,' Noboa wrote on social media alongside photos of Glas in his new cell, wearing the orange prison uniform.
