Road accidents are one of the main causes of death in Ecuador, with one person dying every four hours in a traffic accident, according to the National Transit Agency. In 2024, there were 21,220 traffic accidents in the country, resulting in approximately 2,300 deaths and 18,000 injuries, according to official statistics.
