On Thursday, River will face Barcelona from Ecuador in the fourth match of Group B of the Copa Libertadores with the intention of getting closer to qualifying for the round of 16. The Argentine team leads Group B with five points, having secured victories against Universitario from Peru and draws against Barcelona and Independiente del Valle. A new victory would leave them in a favorable position to advance to the next phase, but a defeat could change the outlook.
On the other hand, Barcelona began its participation in the Cup with a home win against Independiente del Valle and a draw against River at El Monumental; however, in the last match, they surprisingly lost to Universitario at their stadium.
